About RackRate

RackRate is a deals desk for web hosting run on one rule: every promo gets judged by its renewal price, not its banner. We show the full rate behind the discount so a hosting deal stops being a gamble.

RackRate exists because hosting deals are engineered to be compared badly: a giant percentage off, a low intro price locked behind a multi-year prepay, and a renewal rate tucked into the terms where nobody reads it. The name is the fix. A 'rack rate' is the full, undiscounted price of something — and pulling that number back into daylight, next to the promo, is the entire job of this site. We rank every deal by what it costs after the discount ends, because that is the price you live with.

The method

Every price on this site is read from the host's own pricing or terms page, dated, and shown as a band rather than a single live figure, because hosting promos change constantly and are term- and region-specific. We record the promo price, the renewal price, the intro term and the money-back window for each deal, then rank on the renewal first. Our ranked hosting deals page carries the working. We do not publish uptime or speed benchmarks we did not run; where a host's quality matters, we frame it as advertised or cite it to the provider by name and date.

No fake urgency

We do not use countdown timers, 'only a few left' stock scares, or invented expiry dates, and we never will. Hosting is not a limited-inventory product, and almost every hosting promo is evergreen — the same discount runs all year with a new label at the holidays. Manufacturing pressure would push readers into the wrong term to earn a faster click, which is the opposite of the job. The only urgency we will ever report is a genuine, dated, verifiable seasonal price we can point you to.

How we make money

Some outbound links are affiliate links; if you buy through one, the host pays us a commission at no cost to you. Commissions vary wildly between hosts — which is exactly why the ranking is anchored to renewal prices rather than payout tables. Our current top pick, Hostinger, pays nothing on renewals and nothing on monthly plans, so we earn zero on the number the whole site is about; that is how you can tell the ranking is not for sale. The itemized version is in the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections and contact

If a price here disagrees with a host's current pricing page, we want to know — a deals desk's favourite email is the one that catches a stale renewal figure before a reader does. RackRate is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any hosting company named on the site; host names are used only to identify their deals. The contact page has the details.
