Privacy Policy
RackRate collects as little as possible: no accounts, no selling data, and affiliate links that pass no personal information to the hosts we cover.
RackRate is a static content site. We do not run user accounts, we do not sell personal data, and we collect only what is needed to keep the site working and to understand roughly how it is used. This page explains what that means in practice. It is a plain-language summary, not legal advice, and it applies to this website only.
What we collect
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which guides are useful — the fine print is in the next section. We do not build advertising profiles. If you email the deals desk or join the optional renewal-alert list, we keep that message or address only to reply to you or send what you asked for, and never share it.
Google Analytics: the fine print
The tool is Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. What it measures: pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (city or country level), device and browser type, and session timing. What it doesn't: Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. What's switched off: advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation — so the data is not used for advertising, and we don't sell it.
The cookies are first-party: _ga and _ga_<ID>, each with a lifespan of up to two years, set only after analytics is allowed. If you're in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a banner asks first and nothing is sent to Google unless you click Accept. Anywhere else, analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time. A browser sending the Global Privacy Control signal counts as opted out. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage (key: analytics-consent), not in a cookie.
To change your answer, open Cookie settings and the banner returns. Google's terms for this data are in Google's privacy policy, and its opt-out add-on blocks Google Analytics in your browser on every site.
Affiliate links and cookies
Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you click one, the host or its affiliate network may set a cookie to credit us if you buy — that process happens on the host's side, and we do not receive your name, email or payment details from it. You can decline or clear those cookies in your browser at any time. Our commercial relationships are described in the affiliate disclosure.
Your choices
You can browse RackRate without signing up for anything — no account is required to read any page — and you can switch analytics off at any time. If you have joined the email list you can unsubscribe from any message, and you can ask us to delete an email you have sent by writing to [email protected]. If we ever change this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Last updated October 9, 2026.
